Dr. Joseph V. Boykin, Jr. is widely recognized for his expertise and skills in plastic and reconstructive surgery. A graduate of the Medical College of Virginia School of Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University, he completed his residency in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery at MCV Hospitals; later serving as Assistant Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at MCV before establishing a private practice.

Dr. Boykin holds many awards including the distinction of being listed in The Best Hospitals In America where he was designated as a "Well-known Specialist" in plastic surgery and burn treatment.

Dr. Boykin is a Board Certified Plastic Surgery and a diplomat of the National Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. In addition, Dr. Boykin is the founder of the first Problem Wound Center/Hyperbaric Medicine Department in Central Virginia.
