Cosmetic Plastic Surgery: Why do People Do It?

First, let us define what is cosmetic plastic surgery. Cosmetic plastic surgery is an elective surgical procedure used to enhance your appearance and your self-confidence, but it won't necessarily change your looks to match your ideal, or cause other people to treat you differently. Before you decide to have surgery, think carefully about your expectations and discuss them with your surgeon.

The best candidates for cosmetic plastic surgery are those who are looking for improvement, not perfection, in the way they look. If you're physically healthy and realistic in your expectations, you may be a good candidate.

All surgery carries some uncertainty and risk and it is very important to be honest and straight forward with your surgeon. Inform him/her if you smoke and if you're taking any medications, vitamins, or other drugs.

Your decision to have cosmetic plastic surgery, no matter what the procedure may be, is a highly personal one that not everyone will understand. The important thing is how you feel about it. If you've met your goals, then your surgery is a success.

In June of 1991, I made the decision to have cosmetic plastic surgery. It was an easy decision. I had no breasts. I am happily married, have two wonderful and healthy children, but no breasts. Never had them before my children either. So why did I decide I needed breasts? One day, I was outside washing my car, cleaning the windows and all those things that you don't wear feminine clothes while doing when some of my brothers friends rode by and mistook me for one of my brothers, calling out his name, "HEY JAKE!". That did it! My husband told me he loved me just the way I was and that I did not need to do this. My mind was made up! I went in flat chested on a warm June day and that afternoon emerged a new woman! I went from a 34 nothing to a 36 C. Wow! What a boost for my self esteem not to mention my waistline looked smaller. I HAD BREASTS! Remember the man whom I married that said he loved me just the way I was and that I didn't need to do this procedure? He can't keep his hands off of me. Our passion fire had been rekindled. Even after almost 18 years of marriage, you'd think we were just married. I feel great and now my brothers can't call me "A carpenter's dream; flat as a board", Pirate's delight, sunken chest", and let us not forget, "President of the I.B.T.C. (Itty bitty titty committee)". I AM WOMAN, HEAR ME ROAR!

I want everyone to understand that cosmetic plastic surgery is not a cure for a failing marriage and will not make you an instant success. This is your body and should be done only for yourself.
