Basic Lingo
Welcome to Magic Words! This article will focus on the new
and powerful game called MAGIC. We will talk about cards, lingo,
and basic game play. So, let's begin with some lingo to prepare
you for upcoming articles.
INSTANT
These cards come into play as soon as they are
cast. They focus on instant healing, damage, and power-ups
for your creatures.
INTERRUPT
These cards are just like Instants, except they
usually add land.
SORCERIES
Another name for Instants, they do just about
anything.
ENCHANTMENTS
These are permanent spells. They last the
whole time during the game, and they usually power-up a creature
or give a creature a disadvantage.
CASTING COST
This tells how many land (mana) you need to
cast a certain spell. This includes summoning creatures,
instants, and enchantments.
POWER/TOUGHNESS
This is on the bottom right-hand corner of
the card. They apply only to creatures. They look like 1/1,
2/2, and so forth. The power is how strong a monster is when he
attacks. The toughness is how many power points he can defend
with when he is attacked.
MANA
This is your land supply. There are five basic lands,
they are SWAMPS, FORESTS, PLAINS, MOUNTAINS, and ISLANDS. In
this game, you are two wizards fighting against each other. In
order to cast your spells, you must draw your magic from these
lands. At the top right corner of the cards, they will tell it's
casting costs. They tell how many mana you need to cast your
spell.
And last but not least:
UPKEEP
This is the stage right after you draw a card.
Well, I hope this article will help you on your way to be a MAGIC
master. Good luck, and I'll see you next time.
