Welcome back to MAGIC WORDS! Last time, I gave the readers some basic lingo. Today, I will go over some rules. Now all you experienced game players, bear with me for a while. I want the first-timers to learn how to play so that they can beat you.
1. First, you must draw your hand. Then you have about 6 or 7 phases to play your cards. Untap, your first phase, wouldn't apply to you if you just started. But if it does, you must put your tapped cards upward instead of sideways. Next, you draw a card from your library. Since you are only allowed 7 cards in your hand, you must either play a card, or discard a card into your graveyard. There is more to this, but I'll let you figure that out while you play.
2. You can only attack with a monster on the turn after the one when you brought him into the game. To make him attack, you must turn him sideways and announce that you are attacking with him.
3. Only untapped monsters can defend. If your power is greater than the attacking monster's toughness, you kill that monster. If you don't defend, he takes the number of power from you. Each person has 20 at the beginning of the game, so if you let a 3/3 creature attack you, you are brought down to 17.
4. Whoever gets down to 0 first, loses. In a usual game, the players put up an ante (they put up cards and whoever wins gets to keep those cards). As a beginner, you might not want to do that.
5. An average deck consists of about 60 cards. Only 1/3 of those cards should be mana. If you want, you can buy starter decks, expansion decks, and booster packs. They will help you Make your deck the winning one. Most people focus on 2 or 3 color decks.
