Junk Food Buddha
by Dawn Hall

This was an interesting band that I saw at Rack-N-Roll. Chris Leitch was formerly with Fighting Gravity and Chris Lowry was formerly with BS&M. They call themselves a “song writer’s band”. Each member sings their own songs. I liked this band a lot, besides being great people. Right now they are recording a CD and they play in the DC area about 10-12 times per month. When I first met the band I was told that they have only been together for 4 months but I would not have guessed that. I felt they were very good and the thrombone really added to the music. Pete at Rack-N-Roll spoke highly of them and I now know why. I have to admit that I was a bit thrown off by the name, but rest assured, this is a serious band and they know how to please a crowd.

The band consists of Jeff Nagle, bass & vocals; Chris Lowry, guitar & vocals; Chris Leitch, keyboard, thrombone & vocals; Jody Boyd, drums & vocals; and John Winn, vocals, flute and sax. After seeing them at Rack-N-Roll I was sent a demo package of theirs. The tape was wrapped in a Cracker Jack box. I hadn’t seen that before, thought it was cool. Made me smile anyway… then it made me hungry.

Pulp Radio Magazine is available in Virginia at Plan 9 Music, or you might find it at your favorite club like the The Flood Zone or others in 12 states and DC.
